— FIRST IMPRESSIONS —

APPEARANCE Average for his time, on the short side when compared to people from later periods. Short blond hair. Healthy and fit for his sixty years.

CLOTHING Whatever most practical, mundane clothing he can get. He'd rather like to have his habit back, but it's not like he's less of a monk without it.

DEMEANOR Calm and understanding. Cadfael is tolerant and caring towards almost everyone he meets. He tends to get along with all people no matter their social class, culture or religion.

— SKILLS —

Medic Cadfael has been a medic and herbalist for Shrewsbury Abbey for 20 years prior his Summoning. He has no formal training and has learned everything he knows from other people (like Muslim doctors in the Holy Land during crusades) or through his own experimentation. He prepared all of his medicine himself. He can also make wine ;)

Farm Hand Cadfael was born to a peasant family in Wales so he knows how to grow things and take care of livestock. He grew herbs for his own medicines, took care of vegetable gardens and orchards for the Abbey.

Soldier Cadfael fought in the First Crusade, sailed around the Mediterranean, have been a mercenary so he's a pretty skilled fighter both with hand to hand combat, archery or sword and daggers. He left this life when he became a monk, but he's fit and did not loose much of his skills. He might be a bit out of practice though ;)

Monk As a medieval monk of Benedictine order Cadfael knows how to read and write (appropriate age) Latin. He's been one for two decades so he knows by heart many hymns and prayers. He has quite nice singing voice, and very legible handwriting.

Detective Cadfael is curious and obseevant man with great eye for detail. He's always interested in people to the point of being noisy. He will also not jump to the first, most convenient explanation, but try to find a correct one. He helped his friend, sheriff, solve many criminal cases back in Shrewsbury.
